Jim Langer Award

 

The Jim Langer Award is presented to the top offensive lineman in NCAA Division II college football. The award is supported by the American Football Coaches Association Division II membership.

A native of Royalton, Minnesota, Jim Langer was two-time All-North Central Conference selection at South Dakota State and signed with the Cleveland Browns in 1970. 

After being released by Cleveland, Langer signed with the Miami Dolphins and became a five-time All-NFL selection at center. He was voted the Dolphins' most valuable player in 1975, played in three Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls. He closed out his career with the Minnesota Vikings in 1981. Langer was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He is also in the South Dakota State Hall of Fame.
